Phillipa Low has been a diabetes educator since 2005, bringing over two decades of experience in both community and acute care settings. She has worked locally and internationally — including a position in Oxford, UK — and currently holds a part-time appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Phillipa is available for on-site education and individualised support for all aspects of type 1 and type 2 diabetes management. She has presented oral and poster presentations at both State and National conferences.

Biography

Background & experience

Phillipa Low has worked as a diabetes educator since 2005, developing broad expertise across community and acute care settings. Her career has spanned both Australian and international practice — including a position in Oxford, UK — giving her a wide perspective on best-practice approaches to diabetes education and self-management support.

Phillipa currently holds a part-time appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she works alongside specialist endocrinology and diabetes teams. At Malvern Endocrinology & Diabetes, she provides individualised, on-site education and support to help patients build confidence and competence in managing their diabetes day-to-day.

Phillipa has presented oral and poster presentations at both State and National diabetes conferences, reflecting her commitment to staying at the forefront of developments in diabetes education and care.

Phillipa offers on-site, individualised education for all aspects of type 1 and type 2 diabetes management, including:

Blood Glucose Monitoring

Education and practical support for self-monitoring of blood glucose, interpreting results, and using data to guide management decisions.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Initiation and ongoing support for CGM devices, including sensor use, trend interpretation, and integration into daily diabetes management.

Insulin Initiation & Adjustment

Support for starting insulin therapy and ongoing titration, including basal and bolus regimens for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Insulin Pump Initiation & Review

Pump start education and ongoing pump reviews to optimise insulin delivery settings and support confident, effective pump use.
